HIPPIE SABOTAGE
The Warfield pulsed with electricity on Saturday night as Sacramento-born electronic duo Hippie Sabotage delivered a blistering, emotional performance that blended their signature genre-hopping sound with moments of raw vulnerability and gratitude.
Known for their viral remixes like “Stay High” and genre-defying hits such as “Devil Eyes,” “Your Soul,” and “Options,” brothers Kevin and Jeff Saurer have carved out a unique lane in the electronic scene - one that lives at the intersection of hip-hop, alt-rock, EDM, and ambient trap. But on this stop of their latest tour, the pair went far beyond the expected.
From the first drop, the crowd was locked in — chill but energized — as opening act Carpetman warmed things up with a tight, high-energy set. When Hippie Sabotage finally emerged through smoke and strobes, the venue exploded. Jeff tore through song after song on electric guitar while Kevin prowled the stage, rallying the crowd with every stomp, mic raise, and splash of water.
What elevated the night wasn’t just the massive LED walls or seismic bass — it was the human element. Partway through the set, the duo paused to thank their fans and reflect on Jeff’s recent recovery from a brain aneurysm, a sobering moment met with an outpouring of support. It was a reminder that behind the lights and visuals are two brothers with a story — and a community behind them.
Still, the night never lost momentum. Newer cuts from recent projects meshed seamlessly with their tried-and-true anthems. From the psychedelic haze of “Drifter” to the mosh-pit-ready beat switch in “Running Miles”, the setlist flexed their full range — loud, quiet, emotional, chaotic — all at once. And when the familiar opening notes of “Stay High” or “Devil Eyes” rang out, the entire floor became a choir.
Hippie Sabotage have long been hard to categorize. Their early chillwave remixes gave way to more aggressive, beat-driven soundscapes, then veered into punky experimental territory with 2023’s “Sleep Paralysis”. But no matter the sonic shift, their live shows remain a place of full emotional release — equal parts catharsis, chaos, and connection.
By the time the brothers took their final bows, sweat-drenched and beaming, it was clear: this wasn’t just another EDM show.
